Tatiana Maslany to Star in Pilot Order for The Nightbeast

Having an affair with a monster in your closet sounds like an ideal set up, to be fair.

Tatiana Maslany, whose previous credits include playing She-Hulk on She-Hulk (pictured above), a “clairvoyant” on the first season of Perry Mason, and many, many different characters Orphan Black, is set to star in a horror comedy called The Nightbeast, which Amazon MGM Studios has just greenlit for a pilot episode.

Here’s the official logline for the series, per Variety:

A young mother unsatisfied with her seemingly perfect suburban life begins an affair with the boogeyman in her son’s closet—a surprisingly sexy man called the Nightbeast. But this harmless affair she thought to be a figment of her imagination begins to have unexpected consequences, as her two worlds increasingly begin to collide in this seductive, darkly comedic tale.

The show’s creators are Leah Rachel and Travis Jackson, whose previous credits include the Netflix horror series, Chambers. That show got mixed reviews—it currently holds a 42% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes though the audience score is 71%—and lasted one season.

In addition to starring, Maslany serves as a producer on The Nightbeast. She is also attached to the horror movie, Keeper, which comes from Longlegs writer-director Osgood Perkins. It’s not clear what project is next on her dance card, but it looks like we’ll see Maslany in at least one horror production in the near future.

Amazon MGM Studios has only given the go-ahead for the pilot episode of The Nightbeast, so there’s no guarantee the project will get a full-series order and make its way to a screen near you. icon-paragraph-end
